Jordy Kerwick (b. 1982, Melbourne, Australia) is an artist based in Gaillac, France. Self-taught, he turned to painting in 2016 after a career in music. His richly layered canvases—populated by recurring motifs of wolves, serpents, big cats, still lifes and domestic interiors—are built up through dense, gestural mark-making and a boldly defined visual language. This distinctive sensibility quickly drew the attention of galleries, institutions and collectors, and within a few years Kerwick established an international exhibition profile spanning Europe, the United States, Asia and his native Australia.
His solo exhibitions include Sirens of Venice at Patricia Low Contemporary, Venice (2025); Printemps Sur Tarn at Carl Kostyal, Stockholm (2025); a major presentation at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2025), which previously hosted his Serpent vs Wolf in 2023; Be sure to never get to where you are going at Carl Kostyal, Milan (2024); a solo show at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid (2023); So many sheep, so few wolves and Pink Sunsets, Cigarettes, 3 Regrets and the hope to haunt the future at Vito Schnabel Gallery in St. Moritz and Los Angeles (2022–23); and I Want You To Remember This at The Arts Club, London (2022). Earlier solo shows took place at galleries across London, Paris, Athens, Tokyo, New York, Sydney and Melbourne.
His work has also featured in group exhibitions at institutions including LACMA (US) and, most recently, Chutzpah at the Jewish Museum of Australia, Melbourne (2025). Other notable group presentations include Observation at Galerie Perrotin, Dubai (2022); These Days Pt II at Sotheby’s, Los Angeles (2022); and a series of two-person and collaborative exhibitions across Europe and the US.
Kerwick‘s work is held in the permanent collections of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza (Madrid, Spain), the Denver Art Museum (Denver, CO, USA), the ICA Miami (Florida, USA), the Beth DeWoody Bunker Artspace Foundation (Florida, USA) and Fulton Ryder (Richard Prince, New York), among others.
